Personally, after watching all of the overwhelming news on t.v., I feel that these football games deserve to and should be played. Jamie and Charlie both have excellent points in that the terrorists are looking to disband us and bring our nation to a halt...which they've done a pretty good job of so far. But how long are we supposed to mourn before we get on with our lives? A day? A week? A year? The longer we do this the more we let the terrorists win by accomplishing their goal of disrupting the most powerful nation in the world. Like Charlie said, we should play these football games in order to unite everyone again, by allowing them to participate in an activity that is enjoyable and uplifting, hopefully letting the sadness slip out of consciousness for a couple hours. I feel that it is a good idea and will allow a few to take their minds off of something so huge. I for one emotionally need it, because this week has been so draining and by the results of the petitions, I think that the majority of others feel this way too. Let us do our part in mourning tomorrow, but also let the football games be played.

Swifty, there is one thing when it comes to NFL, MLB and NCAA games and high school games. Over 50,000's people attend these but only hundreads attend high school football games. I am glad I get to play because I can take out whatever I feel on the opposing team. (I will picture everyone on City High as Bin Ladin) I agree with Charlie we need to get our mind on other things and not just the great tragedy that has occured. I still have mourn for the americans that died, not those fucking fudge packing hijackers. There is also I more thing if we did cancel we would not be able to play City High, this isn't baseball and we don't get 100 some games we get only 9. This football game will last about two hours, only two hours so its not like we won't be able to mourn the rest of the 22 hours of the day.

Obviously, you guys are either illiterate or failed to read my descriptive preamble. Perhaps I used words that were too big for you. Either way, you are not fairly representing me nor my point.

My point is this: as a nation, we need to pull together. We need to act as one. This is not the time for petty disputes, arguments, fights, or whatever. I am sickened when someone tries to turn this into a partisan fight, blaming it on Republicans or Democrats. The 20,000 plus people that died aren't categorized as Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Caucasians, Africans, Asians, Arabs, Indians, or anything else. They were Americans. 20,000 plus of our American Comrades died Tuesday.

A few news stations are switching their theme from "Attack on America" to positive themes such as "America Unites" or "Americans Together". If we as America are to unite as one, we need to all follow and act together.

I believe the professional and collegiate sporting associations have set a strong standard--a precedent for all of America to follow. Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (NFL), Major League Soccer (MLS), the Professional Golfer's Association (PGA), the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing Enthusiasts (NASCAR), and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) have cancelled or postponed practically every single sporting event scheduled for this weekend, including the Iowa vs. Iowa State game in our own backyards.

I think if we are to unite as America, then the MVC and the Cedar Rapids Community School District should follow this example set by these associations and cancel this weekend's events. If they fail to do this, they are failing the very thing we should be doing right now, and that is uniting. If they aren't going to step in line with the rest of the sports community, the CRCSD and MVC are not united.

That is why I believe the sporting events this weekend should be cancelled. Stop thinking selfishly and only of yourself here in that, "I want to have fun this weekend, blah blah blah..." and realize that 20,000 plus Americans died and it's time we unite as a nation to not only grow stronger and prevent these horrific events from reoccurring, but also to honor those who died.

I'd also like to publicly state that my signature on Murphy McGrath's petition is not legitimate.

I agree that the terrorists wanted to disrupt our lives and wanted to create havoc in America. However, I think there is a line to be drawn when it comes to uniting the nation and growing stronger and honoring the victims versus being selfish and failing to show empathy for our fallen comrades. We will move on and become stronger, but there is a point where we have to disrupt America to honor the victims and come together as a nation.

Oh, and the National Mourning Day has been officially set as Friday. Please inform yourselves before making yourselves look like fools.

Backyard Football Game Cancelled
Well I'm following the bunch of girls who signed the fruity petition. There will be NO sporting events for this week. NO backyard football, yes I know you are all really sad and are probably crying but I got to be just like the NFL and cancel it. I believe it would be best for are nation as we become one. Why?
I have to say that I heavily disagree with the idea of having the football game tomorrow. All NFL games have been cancelled on Sunday and Monday. Baseball games have been cancelled through Sunday. Major League Soccer called off the rest of their season. No NASCAR race on Sunday. No PGA Tour this weekend. All but three NCAA College Football games have been cancelled (Iowa - Iowa State was cancelled too!), yet I just heard on KGAN that the Cedar Rapids schools will have the football games played this weekend as usual.

In other words, across the nation, all major sporting events have been cancelled, yet CR insists on playing these football games. I disagree with this. Why does the Cedar Rapids School District insist upon being the people that hold school and events no matter what? Almost no schools hold class on Martin Luther King Day, yet year after year, we attend classes on an adjusted schedule because Channel One is not broadcast that day (because almost no schools go on MLK day!). I'm sick of Lew Finch's garbage lies played on casette over the PA year after year where he says CR has classes so we can honor and learn about Dr. King. Major BS. When is the last time your teachers taught you about MLK on MLK day? Not since Johnson Elementary, that's for sure.

Year after year, there will be a few days where the three major metropolitan schools delay or cancels classes due to snow, yet we go as usual. I am sick and tired of this shit. Now here we have a precedent where practically no sporting events will be held this weekend, yet CR insists on doing so. I'm sick of this shit.

My Poopy Idea
Today in AP European History MR Henderson asked us all what we would do if we were the leader of this nation. This got me thinking, what would be the worst way to piss off the terroists and thier familys and espicially the people that cheered when the incident happened. What is the most brutal thng that we could do.
1.Poop Shooter: I would invent a device that when placed in front of your ass hole it would shoot your poop wherever you were aiming. First I would go to Taco bell and make sure that I ate as many tacos as a could so that my shit wuold be very ruiny i.e. diarehhia, I would then take a plane over the west bank or afganistan and shit my runny poop all over thier cheering faces.
2. Poop Bomb: This device is a litle more pratical and devised to cover the entier country in shit. Seeing as we have enough missiles we could fill them with poop, which, according to Tyler Weston would spread out in a 15 mile diameter therefore it would take 16789 missles to cover the entire country in shit. Of course we would need to have poop drives (like blood drives except with poop) to get all the crap.
How would we fund this whole ordeal?
Take the money that we are going to spend on the Rainforest/Child Center and invest in Poop Shooters and Missiles.

WAR:WOULD YOU GO?
I was just thinking about this. I would honestly like to know if any of you would be for or opposed to going to war. Considering that most of you are under 18 you probably wouldn't go if such happend. But just think if you were 18 and did have to go to war. I for one would be scared shitless. I just got home from school. I turned on the TV and an anouncement has been made that the Iowa v. Iowa St. game will be canceled. I'm anxious to see how the sports world is going to catch up after all the canceled days.

I drove by Amoco today on First Avenue. What was the gas price, you ask? $1.62 a gallon. HandiMart on First Avenue remained unchanged from yesterday, while Mt. Vernon HandiMart raised their price 12 cents (I said it would go up 10 cents yesterday). So who was right? Big Boy Productions with the info straight from Dave Nordstrom. Who was wrong? Just Monday my uncle was working for a client in the World Trade Centers, now today the buildings have been completly demolished in the name of some God, I find it hard to belive that any towelhead god would agree with such an action. We should also be thankful for our armed forces, police forces, and other forces, I guess, that have helped to keep the nation running at least somewhat smoothly. Finally, as God once said,

If you think what we are feeling here hit close to home, get this. I just finished talking to a freind of mine who lives about a ten minute drive from the pentagon. A large number of his classmates had parents in the pentagon when the plane hit, and they spent the whole afternoon trying to find out if they were killed, one of his classmates had a parent on the flight that crashed into the Pentagon. He could see the smoke billowing out from his backyard and he says there are still air force jets patrolling all around the Washington D.C. area.
Now on to a personal note. This is the kinda shit that you just always think about in the back of your mind, but you never think will really happen. I know I am just reiterating what all the rest of you have said, but regardless of the cost, we need to get any motherfuckers that had anything to with this, the "folks' (to quote our president) who carried it out may be dead, but for anyone who had the slighest bit of prior knowledge about this attack I think we need to break out some hardcore mideavil torture devices. This type of shit will happen again if we don't respond with full, unrestrained reiteration.
As a final note, we must remember the sacrifice made by at least 200 firefighters and rescue personel who courageously lost their lives today as they voluntarily rushed to save the lives of those who were trapped by the crash. This as well as the approx. 800 who died at the pentagon. We might never know how many died at the world trade center, but it could number anywhere from several hundred to 50,000.

In response to Nick Basile: although I disagree with your use of a racial slur, I heartily agree with your perspective. I think that people fail to realize that we aren't characterizing these Palestinians as evil because we feel they're somehow responsible for what happened today, but rather, because these select Palestinians were celebrating the loss of thousands of our innocent civilians. In response to the sentiment that "we deserved it" (some commie traitor gave me that line of bull online today, because he felt we provoked whoever did it, and didn't deserve to strike back, based on the fact that we FORCE them to Americanize): if they want us to trade with them, if they want to convert their shithole $3 a week way of life into something American, then fine, we're going to make them play by OUR rules (example, former part of Iran that "westernized") but if they want to be who they want to be? I was watching channel 9 otherwise know as ABC when a reporter was saying that he talked to a fireman who declined to be on camera and he said that, "When him and his fellow firefigher partners were going into the building he saw one of his partners get struck and killed by a person who jumped off the building." I had been hearing rumors of gas prices going up to $5 a gallon. Let me tell you this: this is an unsubstantiated RUMOR. It is completely false.

Charlie Nordstrom, a contributed here to BBP has a parent, namely, Dave Nordstrom who is president of Nordstrom Oil and HandiMart. In order to get the straight information, I called Mrs. Nordstrom, who in turn called Dave. Here's the inside word; the straight dope:

* Gas prices will go up 10 cents (that's a dime) tomorrow. That's IT.
* There is no evidence that gas prices will shoot up to Carter-era prices of $5 a gallon or any garbage like that.
* Do NOT go and get in the ridiculous gas lines this evening. These people are going on hysterics and rumors as opposed to facts.
* There is no shortage of gas, no embargoes on the middle east or anything like that.
* There is only ONE problem that is foreseeable... and that is the possibility that people making this hysterical run on gas will deplete the tanks at stations... so some stations might be out in a few days. If you help to dispel these ridiculous rumors, we can prevent this from happening.

That's the straight word from Dave Nordstrom, a genius businessman who is truly in the know. So relax!

Such horrible acts against such innocent people. What I saw on CNN today truly sickened me. Palestinian youth raising their fist in defiance, praising Osama bin Laden (if it was really him that did this) and cheering. An atrocity to be sure. Today is a day that will live in infamy.

I'm sickened and disgusted at the utter contempt for humanity displayed today by whoever was cowardly enough to think that killing thousands of innocent American lives somehow makes a political statement or helps their political position. Those inexplicably killed today weren't whites, blacks, republicans, democrats, arabs, latinos, africans, asians, or indians, they were Americans just like me and today we lost at least 10,000 of them. ***1st Edit***Apparently the Pentagon is still on fire, and all tunnels from NY/NY have been closed. Newt Gingrich called it "The 21st century Pearl Harbor." John McCain calls it an "act of war". Also, we are at Defcon 2. Here is an excerpt: "All members are alerted to the possibility that war is eminent".Edit made at 11:18 am.

SOAD & Slipknot Concert
Personally I really would like to go. I don't know about everyone else but this sounds like a lot of fun. Its on Setember 18th and it costs 35 bucks. My parents told me I could go but I don't really want them dropping me off. If we can get ahold of some tickets we should go.

Today in the MVC golf meet, A kid from Xavier dropped a ball down on the 15th hole. He claimed it was his, that he had sliced the crap out of, but another guy from Linn-Mar, and myself saw him drop the ball into the weeds. If he would have just gone back to the tee and re-hit and continued the hole, the worst he would have had on the hole would be a 6, but since we didn't say anything about his little deception, he signed an incorrect scorecard of 74, and he was DQ'ed. Thus making Xavier loose the meet, and in turn, giving it to WASHINGTON w00t!! Thanks buddy.......

A whiles back Charlie introduced me to NMP3 (which stands for No MP3's), a forum that he had discovered. We both had been reading Something Awful for quite a while, but unlike him, I never checked out their great forums. There are a couple different ones, the 2 that I most frequent are NMP3's, and General Bullshit. Almost all the people that post in the forums are funny as hell. Threads get started up that have to deal with things such as "A camel spider ate my face", and "My date with a crack whore". Not only is the forum a blast, but also the site. This site has really grown on me, as I didn't like it so much when I first found it. But now it is my main source for MP3's and humor. I don't really find myself looking at any other site right now because there is so much sweet content on this bad boy. I suggest you check it out.

Two Fags In A Blazer
Wow... last night had to be the best night I have had in a long time. It was Adam, Mike, Dave and myself. There were so many damn pigs out last night. We really could not go any faster than 2 or 3 over the entire time. If I did go any faster, Mike would flip out and tell me to slow down.

The night's momentum picked up when we were sitting at a stop light on the ave. Mike was giving these fags in a black Chevy Blazer the stare down. It was pretty funny, because the driver looked like he was about to cry or something. We headed up the ave toward the west side, and the faggots in the Blazer started to tail us. At the next light they pulled up on the right side of us, rolled down their windows, and started looking at us. I said to him, "Dude, why are you holding your cig like a fairy?" It was so funny, he just looked at me with this dumb-ass look on his face and mumbled something that I didn't understand. The light changed and I slowly pulled away. These fags proceeded to follow us for nearly 45 goddamned minutes! Dave had me driving somewhere out by Kirkwood (out in the boonies). Finally, I pulled over to the shoulder, as did our friends in the Blazer. After sitting there for about a minute or two, they pulled out and got in front of us--but at an angle so I couldn't pass them on the left. So what did I do? I went to the right and damn near went in the ditch, but it was all good, because I made it. Anyway, the guys left and we thought that was the end of it.

Well, we were wrong. No less than two hours later, we were out by Lindale Mall, preparing to screw with Mall Security, when lo and behold, our buddies in the black Blazer pull into Best Buy right behind us. The Blazer fairies had recruited by this point, now there were at least six guys in the car. It truly gave a new meaning to the term pillow biters! I pulled out of the parking lot and back onto the ave. Mike and Dave explained a tactic that would enable us to lose them. It basically involved trying to either turn left off of the ave right before some cars arrived (so the fairies wouldn't be able to turn until after the cars passed), or turning right onto the ave at a red light right before a group of cars arrived. We pulled off the right turn manuerver and they ended up being about four cars behind us. We quickly made our way into the left turn lane and turned off. As we headed down the street away from the ave, we saw the fairies drive right on past. We had lost them. w00t! We headed over the Mike's house for a bit, then left again. As we arrived at the four-way stop by Arthur Elementary, the fairies were there too. I turned left so we could head toward 29th Street, and they nearly rammed the car, but missed. As we came up to the stop light at 29th Street and 1st Avenue, they were sitting behind us. Next thing I knew, I got slapped on the top of my head. I do mean slap here. I had my sunroof open; that's how the driver was slapping me. He was saying dumb stuff like, "What now? Huh!?!? What now!?!?" or some gay shit to that effect. As he was walking away, I commented, "Were those supposed to be punches? Because damn, that didn't hurt at all." Then he came back and I think actually made a first this time and hit me like 3 more times. These hurt more, but for real, I think Scaddam can hit harder. It was nothing like I thought... this was the first time I've been hit for real and it didn't hurt that much at all. Later on at like midnight, I got a small headache, but other than that... nada. While this was going on, Mike was just frozen. Adam quietly told him to close the sunroof, but he didn't move. None of the guys had absolutely any clue what was going on. Until I got hit a few times, neither did I. It was so sudden. It was pretty funny how they reacted... they were actually mad, and we were just having fun. The best part was that they actually went to get more guys. If we woulda gotten out of the car, we would've owned their asses. They were a bunch of pot head pussies.

Oh yeah... HandiMart rocks. We stopped at 3 different locations 4 times last night. There was more fun last night too, but I'll leave that to Mike, Dave, and Adam.
